How did your course go?

Luke Dalling is just one of these learners who have found employment through The CADCentre (UK) Ltd.

Luke was referred to the CADCentre by Careers Wales West. Luke’s advisor explained that he lacked confidence and would require a supportive environment and tutor to stimulate motivate and provide appropriate support to help him with his training.

With extra help and assistance from his tutor/assessor and employment advisor, Luke’s confidence grew and his whole attitude changed. Luke had excellent attendance and showed he was fully competent to complete tasks with little supervision.

“When I first started training at the CADCentre I had no experience in IT Practitioners and didn’t know what to expect. After a few weeks of training with my tutor/assessor I was building computers and installing software. When I attend work experience at Icon I learned how to test hardware and wire desktop and tower PC’s. I really enjoy being at Icon Computer Services and I’m looking forward to starting my modern apprenticeship.”

When he finished work experience, Luke returned to the centre to finish off his NVQ and his confidence continued to grow. Not long after his return to the centre he was offered an apprenticeship with Icon Computer Services, a rarity in today’s IT industry and economy.

Luke is currently studying towards an IT Practitioner NVQ level 2 at the CADCentre, and is gaining experience at Icon Computer Services. Once he completes the level 2 NVQ Luke will sign up for a modern apprenticeship with Icon Computer Services.

We are delighted that the impression Luke has made during his work placement has meant that Icon Computing Services have offered Luke a Modern Apprenticeship place. Once Luke completes his NVQ Level 2 he shall start his employment with Icon Services. His new skill set and positive attitude and demeanour will be an asset to his new employer.
