Matthew went to school at Olchfa Comprehensive where he gained two GCSE’s in Maths and D&T resistant materials. He stayed on in school to attend sixth form and achieved NVQ’s in Business and Leisure and Tourism. Matthew was referred to the CADCentre by Swansea Careers. When he arrived he lacked confidence and motivation and took a while to settle into the centre. After a few weeks of studying and help from the staff at the CADCentre, Matthew started to show more confidence and concentrated on his work. When it was time for Matthew to attend work experience he was reluctant to leave his comfort zone and travel to his work placement at IT Asset Disposal. Matthew showed lack of motivation but after a bit of persuasion he agreed to attend his work placement. After a week at IT Asset Disposal Matthew showed significant signs of improvement with his motivation and was enjoying his placement and we were getting excellent feedback from the placement provider. When Matthew completed his work experience he came back to the centre with an air of confidence and his motivation issues had improved dramatically. Since leaving the CADCentre Matthew has been employed by IT Asset Disposal as a part time technician and is enjoying his new found career. He is likely to be employed full time after a short probationary period. “Matthew lacked motivation, confidence and was hesitant about going on work experience placement, but after a bit a preparation and support from the staff at the CADCentre Matthew gained confidence and attended a work placement with IT Asset Disposal.
