Susan was referred to the CADCentre by Swansea Jobcentre after the business she worked for as a quality control supervisor went into administration and was made redundant. Susan’s previous work and experience had never required her to use a computer before, so she decided to study an IT User qualification to better her chances at finding employment. With the support and training from her tutor/assessor, and using her own determination and initiative, Susan quickly picked up new skills and progressed through the training completing a diploma in IT Users. “I was made redundant after the business I worked for went into administration. The Jobcentre referred me to the CADCentre for IT training whilst I was looking for employment”. “I’d never used a computer before and wanted to gain IT skills and qualifications to support my chances of finding employment. At first I was a little nervous, but I soon settled into the swing of things and started to pick up new skills”. Approximately a month after finishing her diploma, Susan applied for a data entry/admin position at CADCentre’s head office. Due to her proven skills and attributes Susan was chosen for the position, which she started in January 2008. Since Susan started at the CADCentre she has progressed very quickly, gaining new responsibilities and becoming a key member of staff in the head office administration department. “Shortly after finishing my IT qualification I applied for a data entry/admin position at the CADCentre, I was successful, and was employed in January 2008”.
